I know, I know! I need to remember it’s a blog not a rant! Yes, perhaps yesterday’s blogpost was a bit ranty, but sometimes you need a bit of a rant to get things off your chest but I’ve realised there is a world of difference between being INFORMED about what’s going on in the world and being INUNDATED, OVERWHELMED and MANIPULATED. (It’s the manipulation I especially object to.)
So how is my Elaine’s Life Is A News-Free Zone project going so far?
it’s going well. Although I almost fell at the first hurdle when I got on the train last night and just stopped myself from picking up a copy of the Evening Standard someone had left in the carriage. And It was quite nice to sit and eat my breakfast this morning without the images of dead Syrians or Afghanis or Pakistanis being paraded in front of me or listening to politicians talking rubbish. I’ve rooted out a lot of old CDs which are playing now as I write this – all together “Johnny’s in the basement mixing up the medicine, I’m on the pavement thinking ’bout the government” They don’t write lyrics like they used to!! I’d forgotten how much I loved some of the music; it was great to sit and write yesterday afternoon with the Mamas and Papas crooning in the background, Who couldn’t sing along? Each night before you go to bed, my baby, whisper a little prayer for me, my baby…. So, yes. So far so good.
And it’s not as if I’m not hearing what’s happening. At drama group last night someone was talking about Tia Sharpe’s nan’s boyfriend admitting killing her. Bastard! Couldn’t he have done that earlier and spared the family this last week in court?
I feel another rant coming on! Time to end the blog, methinks.
The Daughter’s been in touch, having a ball in Cyprus, bless her. The Weather Fairy’s calendar’s got stuck in late-February and I’m going to get on with some writing and then some house/flat hunting. I have to move out of Mum’s flat very soon and haven’t got anywhere to go…..
