Yesterday I spent the day on a film set making a commercial, Well, two commercials, actually. It was a long, hot day, but that’s the name of the game and if you don’t like the heat etc etc etc.
But one of the delights of yesterday was the food. Now food on a film set can be really hit and miss. But yesterday’s was a treat. I would even venture to suggest it was bordering on the gourmet. Growing up in Dagenham we would have described it as “posh food”. Beautifully cooked and presented – an enormous salad table that included roasted aubergines, sun-dried tomatoes and asparagus – it was, indeed, delicious.
And as I was tucking in, my mind drifted back to 1999 when I was “background” in a film called A Kind Of Hush, as a bag-lady.. The wardrobe and make-up departments did their jobs so well that when it came to lunchtime they refused to serve me, thinking that I really was a bag-lady who was trying to cadge a free lunch!
