On Friday evening I had a really great time in the company of two old friends, J & S who I hadn’t seen for such a long time. I’d completely forgotten how much I love their company and how funny S is telling a story. I giggled all the way home. Unfortunately, I’d also had a coffee ;with them after dinner and consequently was awake most of the night.
it was also the first anniversary of the night Mum died and I think that was also on my mind. I actually turned and looked at the clock at 2:25am – the exact time she’d passed, so I think that was also going round and round in my head and I was still awake at 4am.. Anyway, as I had to get up early on Saturday – drama classes followed by a matinee and evening performances – I had very little sleep. So it was not surprising that when I climbed into bed last night I was shattered and I woke up this morning to find I’d been asleep for over ten hours! That, surely, is one of life’s great luxuries: not having to set the alarm.
So, getting up at almost lunch time has meant it’s been a fairly short day. But what a day it’s been! A very pleasant brunch in the garden with the Sister – and more giggling over a dream she’d had about setting our family home on fire – not that that’s funny in itself, it was the cat with no hair and eating beans without toast with the fireman that set us off (don’t ask!) was followed by an afternoon in front of the telly. And……… Andy Murray’s won Wimbledon. Amazing and very well-deserved. Of course, being him, it wasn’t straightforward; he took the first set and then found himself trailing 1-4 in the second. But he fought back and took that set and then had three Championship Points on his own serve – and lost all of them! Then, finally, at the fourth attempt he won! All credit to him, not just for winning Wimbledon but for beating the world no 1, Djokovic, in straight sets.
And a lovely week to look forward to: five Ladykillers performances, including Press Night on Tuesday, Elton John on Friday and a meeting with N about final casting of THE PLAY.
I think a little glass of something might be in order…….
Love this! You make mundane everyday things amusing and entertaining. We will all remember where we were the day Murry won Wimbledon.
