Hello, Australia! Hello, World!

What a brilliant surprise earlier today…… A lovely lady – SB – contacted me after seeing my I Feel GOOD post – all the way from…….Australia!! Isn’t it amazing? I’m sitting in Avocado Cottage, Antigua, West Indies, posting a blog about my wonderful Little Yellow Pills and how much good they’re doing me and she’s reading all about it more than eleven thousand miles away! The wonders of technology never fail to amaze me. And I’m delighted she wants to deal with her oxidative stress and get really well again. Oxidative stress is the cause of more than two hundred … Read the rest »

Meeting Place

I love Epicurean! For those not familiar with Antigua, let me explain. Epicurean is a huge supermarket, the size of a Tesco Superstore. I love it because you can find almost everything you want in there, including Waitrose own-brand products. They also sell Duchy stuff, but I don’t touch that with a bargepole, given who the owns the company. I love it because it’s big, big, big and I usually do two or three circuits of it in air-conditioned comfort as a nod to exercise before I start my shop.

One thing I don’t like is its prices! Especially … Read the rest »

Happy Birthday, Antigua!

Before I move onto congratulating my adoptive country on the thirty-fifth anniversary of its independence, I want to apologise to you all as lately I haven’t written my journal as often as I used to. I have had complaints! This, of course, is very flattering; I’m delighted at how many readers I have scattered across the globe that enjoy my jottings. So I’m really sorry if I’ve upset you. And I sincerely apologise. First of all, I don’t know where the time goes. I get up quite early here and yet before I can look round it’s lunchtime and then … Read the rest »

Butterflies, Christmas Baubles and Feminists

I’m taking advantage of dropping anchor on Singles At Sea (see what I did there?) as the laptop is charging to catch up on my journal. Just to explain that my extension lead had ceased to work and the socket is too far from the table for me to write while the laptop’s plugged in. So here I am in the iPad, giving you a quick look at the last week or so.

It’s butterfly season at the moment. Every day dozens of pretty pale yellow butterflies are all over the garden, until I grab the camera and they disappear! … Read the rest »

Reading and Riding

I’ve got wheels! Whoopee! After being fairly cut-off due to lack of transport – Five Islands isn’t exactly a back-water but it’s nice to have the convenience of a vehicle at your disposal – I’ve now got the use of a car. My friend R is in UK for a while and has kindly given me use of her car while she’s away.
It is like FREEDOM!!
I went for a little drive yesterday evening. Just because I could!
There’s a problem today, though, in that it won’t start 🙁 It needed a jump yesterday but that’s normal when the … Read the rest »

A Perfect Week

It was the loveliest week imaginable, the one I recently spent with The Daughter on Ibiza. It was lovely on so many levels, too.

I was chuffed to see her back in the place of her early years and to see that she fits in totally. You can’t deny your roots, at least she certainly can’t. She is unmistakably Spanish. Her use of the language improved by the day and everyone was keen to ask her about her background. The head-waiter in our hotel asked if she was Latin-American, which, given that her father is Uruguayan, she is, saying she … Read the rest »

Wonder Women: Empress Kai

I have been fortunate and blessed to have met many Wonder Women during my lifetime – indeed I will be introducing lots of them in this series – but rarely have I been moved by anyone as much as I was by KAI DAVIS. She came to my attention when I watched the Ted-X Antigua series. https://www.ted.com/tedx/events/14846

Kai’s is the most amazing story; she represented her country as a dancer at a number of festivals and she made a mark in modeling and pageantry, representing Antigua and winning events such as the Jaycee’s Caribbean Queen Show and the Carnival Queen … Read the rest »

Drumroll………Singles at Sea Cover Reveal

Yes! It’s time to let you see the cover of my next book in the Singles’ Series.

Are you ready? Drumroll…….. Ta Dah!

I’m excited about it and can’t wait to bring it to you. It’s all about Eve and a group she takes on a cruise to Amsterdam and Norway, through the beautiful Fjords. And, of course, we follow the latest developments in Eve’s private life.

It will be out shortly, first on Kindle and then paperback. So watch this space!… Read the rest »

It’s All Over

The Olympic Games Closing Ceremony is playing in the background as I write this. I’m not really interested in watching it. Opening Ceremonies, Closing Ceremonies – they hold little allure for me, especially after London. I though the Opening Ceremony of the London Games was dire. People worldwide were scratching their heads asking what a loads of kids in hospital beds and nurses had to do with anything. And they were right. It was beyond pretentious. To put it in the vernacular – it was up its own arse. So, I’m not bothered about this one, it’s just background noise.… Read the rest »
